Born in New Jersey and raised in Oklahoma, I went through the public
schools of Tulsa and, upon graduation from high school, to Grinnell College
in Grinnell, Iowa. In college, I majored in English literature and good
times. Upon graduation from Grinnell, I went to Princeton Theological
Seminary for my M.Div. and, following graduation, was ordained a minister
of the Word and Sacrament in June of 1974. I also have a number of hours
toward a master's degree in history from the University of Houston.
I have served churches in Pittsburgh (as an assistant pastor on a large
staff), Philadelphia (as solo pastor), Houston-area (new church
development), and Richardson (St. Barnabas). Along the way, I have served
in many capacities for the presbyteries and synods in which I found myself
and was also on the National Design Team for the Youth Triennium in 1983.
Most recently, I was moderator of Grace Presbytery for 2006.
My wife Judy and I will celebrate our 35th anniversary in May 2007. Our
daughter Anna lives in Australia where she works in the health spa industry.
Daughter Sarah is attending SMU, majoring in journalism. Our son Luke is in
his senior year at the University of Oklahoma, majoring in economics and
finance.
