I was born (all bios must begin this way?) in the small town of Georgetown,
Ky. As a daughter of the manse (Presbyterian for parsonage and indication
that my father was a clergyman) I moved often during my childhood. I
graduated from Princeton, High School, in Princeton, W. Va. My husband of
40 years also graduated from PHS. I attended Wooster College, and
graduated with from Western Ky. Univ. with a degree in mathematics and
history. My master's degree in American History is from the Univ. of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill. I taught in the secondary schools of RISD for
twenty plus years, many at Pearce HS. Following my retirement I completed
the certificate in Spiritual Formation offered by Austin Presbyterian
Theological Seminary. Bill, my husband, graduated from Va. Tech and worked
until retirement for TI as a mechanical engineer. We have one daughter,
presently working in a physics post-doctoral position in Honolulu, Hawaii.
In 2004 St. Barnabas commissioned me as a spiritual director. Spiritual
direction is an ancient discipline that is now being rediscovered by those
who seek a deeper walk with their God. Direction offers an opportunity to
discern where God is involved in our lives and to be more intentional about
our life with the Divine. Work to renew, recover, and reinvent the
disciplines of the spiritual life, to make them a part of our lives, and to
enable us to become more effective messengers of the coming and present
kingdom of God, are the other ingredients of my job. I welcome the
opportunity to be with any who wish to follow these paths.
I am enjoying my retirement years with time for travel with my daughter,
time to read what I want, time to enjoy my husband, and time for this work.
