CROP Walk
Mission:
CROP Walks are an annual event sponsored by Church World Service that
raises funds for hungry people all over the world. Proceeds from CROP Walks
help provide relief and development assistance in more than 80 countries
including the United States. CROP Walks are organized on the local level,
and up to 25% of what local CROP Walks raise goes to assist food banks,
pantries, community gardens, and other hunger-fighting programs in their
own cities and towns. More than 2000 towns and cities in the United States
participate in CROP Walks. In the last 15 years CROP Walks have raised $186
million to bring hope and help to people in need. People who donate to CROP
Walks have the option to designate their funds to 19 specific programs
supported by Church World Service, or they can leave their funds
undesignated. St. Barnabas participates in the Richardson CROP Walk, which
typically takes place in October.
